1. Describe how to help clients develop self-compassion, as a response to intense emotional pain.
2. Discuss how to conceptualize complicated grief in terms of cognitive fusion, experiential avoidance and remoteness from 
values.
3. Describe how to accept and adapt to any type of loss - including loss of physical health, loss of relationships, loss of work, 
miscarriage and bereavement.
4. Demonstrate how to use values to find meaning and purpose in the face of great loss.
5. Demonstrate how to use mindfulness-based cognitive strategies and values-guided behavioral activation strategies to help 
clients actively build new lives, grow and flourish.
6. Demonstrate how to engage clients in therapy, and overcome obstacles to homework.
7. Describe how to resolve complicated grief through overcoming the psychological barriers to normative grieving.
