How do I manage my shipping lead times?

Last updated almost 7 years ago

Managing your fulfillment lead times (aka "handling time") is important especially around the holidays. Cyclical and seasonal sales increases can make it hard to meet your fulfillment expectations with each channel.

You can set the fulfillment lead time in Zentail on a per warehouse and per SKU basis.

Managing Lead Times by Warehouse

  1. Go to your Account Settings page
  2. Go to the "Warehouses" section => find the specific warehouse you want to adjust. *Note: For FBA warehouses, the lead time field is only sent to non-Amazon channels. We don't control FBA handling times for Amazon.
  3. Find the "Lead Time (number of days)" field **If this is blank or if there is no inventory in any warehouse for a SKU, the default lead time sent by Zentail is 1 day (if also not set at the SKU level)

  4. Adjust the field and click "UPDATE WAREHOUSE"
*Note: we will send the lead time to Amazon, Walmart, and Pricefalls.

For Jet: you're able to manage your shipping rules directly on your Partner Portal

For eBay:
  • Your eBay Shipping Business Policy dictates your handling time. Your eBay business policies will override whatever is in the lead time field.
  • If you do not use Business Policies, then you can set the "Maximum dispatch time" on your eBay Integration settings under Shipping Options.

Managing Lead Times on a Per SKU Basis

1) Go to your Catalog page -> search and click on a SKU
2) Click the Edit button
3) Under General Info or This Product -> General Info (for SKUs in a product group), find the Fulfillment Lead Time (Days) field
4) Enter the desired number and click on the check mark button to save your changes.

Priority level of lead times (from highest to least)

1) SKU lead time - if the lead time is set at the SKU level, this will have the top priority and will be sent to the channels
2) Warehouse lead time - if lead time is not set at the SKU level, the lead time field on your warehouse settings will be sent to the channels
3) Default lead time - if the lead time field is blank at the SKU and warehouse level, then the default lead time of 1 day will be sent to the channels
