How to Route an Order

Last updated about 7 years ago

Routing an order is important when you have multiple warehouses. Sometimes, orders do not get routed due to a lack of inventory, or some other error. In those cases you can choose to set a default warehouse to automatically route un-routable orders or you may wish to manually route these orders. Both steps are detailed below:

Setting a Default Warehouse to Automatically Route Orders

If you ship from multiple warehouses and you oversell a given SKU,  Zentail will not know which warehouse to route that order to. As a result, the order will receive an automated alert and end up in your Needs Attention section.

You have the ability to automatically route un-routable orders to a specific warehouse. This ensures your orders end up in ShipStation or the Need To Ship section of Zentail's label generator. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Account Settings page => Scroll down to the Company section.
  2. In the Default Warehouse section => Click the dropdown and select the warehouse you want to route un-routable orders to.
  3. Click the UPDATE button.

Manually Routing Orders

When orders come in through channels like Jet, Walmart, eBay, or Big Commerce, and you have inventory in your FBM warehouse, we automatically route the order to your FBM warehouse. Some clients prefer the ability to fulfill an order with their FBA inventory instead. This feature gives you that flexibility!

Right now, there are two requirements before an order can be routed to another warehouse
1) The order must be in either pending or partially shipped status. We can't re-route an order that has already shipped.
2) You must have inventory in the warehouse to which you are routing.
*NOTE: This will route any unshipped quantity to that warehouse. You're not able to select on a few items and leave the rest un-routed.

To route your FBM orders to other warehouses:
1) Go to your Orders page
2) Search for the order. You can go through your pending orders or your partially shipped orders. Alternatively, if you now the order number you can open All orders on the left-hand menu, and use the search function in the upper-right corner of the page.
3) Once you have the order you want to route, click on it! You should see a new menu open on the left side of the page.
4) Click the 3-vertical dots at the top of the Order menu, and choose "Routing Information"
5) From here, you can route the order to the proper warehouse*
*This will route any unshipped quantity to that warehouse. You're not able to select on a few items and leave the rest un-routed.
