What does Inactive mean? How do I archive and un-archive a SKU?

Products in the Inactive status are essentially archived either automatically because they have gone over 120 days without inventory, or manually by the user. If this is the case, the SKU still exists but has been de-activated, or archived, so they are no longer listing anywhere. We do not allow Users to delete products, instead we provide an option to archive a product so we can change or activate it in the future if necessary.

How to Archive a product:

  • In the All status => Search for the SKU you would like to Archive
  • Click the SKU's row in the Catalog table
  • On the left product sidebar that appears, click the 3-vertical-dot icon on at the top of the page => Select "Archive" from the menu that appears
  • On the "Archive Product" popup that appears => Click "SUBMIT"
  • The SKU you just archived is now in the Inactive status (it is no longer searchable in the Active status)
*In order to archive a SKU, the SKU cannot have inventory. When inventory is added to an archived SKU, Zentail will automatically un-archive it.*

To Archive in Bulk:

  • Run an import (See import/export data)
  • Create a template with columns: SKU, Quantity (for all non-FBA warehouses), Still in Catalog
  • Set the quantity to 0 for SKUs you wish to archive
  • In the "Still in Catalog" column, enter "false" for SKUs you wish to archive, or true for SKUs you want active. 
  • Upload the CSV file and select the appropriate warehouse when prompted. 
Note: If there is any inventory update from FBA or any of your non-FBA warehouses, the SKU will become unarchived. 

How to Un-Archive a Product:

Un-archive an Individual SKU
  • In the Inactive status => Search for the SKU you would like to Unarchive
  • Click the SKU's row in the Catalog table
  • On the left product sidebar that appears, click the 3-vertical-dot icon on at the top of the page => Select "Unarchive" from the menu that appears
  • On the "Unarchive Product" popup that appears => Click "SUBMIT"
  • The SKU you just Unarchived is now in the All status (it is no longer searchable in the Inactive status)
You now have the ability to keep a SKU unarchived even with no inventory if you explicitly take action to unarchive the SKU, either through the drop down menu on the catalog page or with an import. 

Un-Archive With an Import (In Bulk)

  • Run an Import (view instructions here)
  • Include any SKU that you wish to un-archive and "<warehouse> quantity"
  • Update the inventory quantity
  • Any SKU with an inventory greater than 0 will automatically un-archive!
If you don't have inventory and need to unarchive
  • Create a template with SKU and Still in Catalog
  • Export your catalog
    • If needed, uncheck "Active Listings" to export ALL your SKUs
  • For an item you wish to unarchive or make active enter "true" in the still in catalog column
  • To archive enter "false"
  • All SKUs with true in the still in catalog column will be unarchived.
