How to create a merchant fulfilled version of an FBA SKU

Last updated over 7 years ago

As an Amazon seller, you are probably used to the maintaining two different SKUs, one FBA SKU and one FBM SKU (also known as a merchant fulfilled, or MF, SKU). Hopefully, you've standardized your SKUs by now, and you're curious how to manage these two different SKUs from Zentail. We try to make it as simple as possible for you!

  1. Find your FBA SKU on Zentail
  2. Add inventory to a non-FBA warehouse
  3. Make sure the SKU is set to "List" on Amazon
  4. That's it!
Zentail will automatically create a merchant fulfilled version of  your SKU on your Amazon Seller Central. This SKU will appear with "+MF+" added on to the end of it. For example, your FBA SKU is labeled "12-abc-345". After you've added merchant-fulfilled inventory to your FBA SKU on Zentail, we will create a SKU labeled "12-abc-345+MF+" on your Amazon Seller Central. It will have the same attributes as the FBA SKU. When selling both MF and FBA inventory, you may want to look into: Auto-flip FBA to MFand FBA Price Override.

If you have complete the above steps and you were not able to create a merchant-fulfilled SKU on our Seller Central, you likely have something triggered in your account that prevents us from sending data to Amazon. Please check the following:
  • Are your product data, inventory, and/ or pricing feeds enabled for Amazon on your Integrations page?
    • Please consult your Onboarding Specialist or another Zentail rep if you are unsure whether your feeds should be enabled
  • Do you have a product data disabled on a per SKU basis?
    • If product data is disabled on that SKU, Zentail can not create a merchant fulfilled version of it.
  • Is your SKU set to List?
  • Is your SKU active in your Zentail catalog?
    • If a SKU is archived, that means it is inactive your Zentail catalog. Zentail will not send feeds for inactive / archived SKUs.

You may find yourself in a situation where you need to create a merchant fulfilled version of a SKU but you have product data disabled on a per SKU basis. In this case, you have two options:
  1. Enable Product Data for that SKU
  2. Create the MF SKU directly on your Amazon Seller Central
If you choose to enable product data for that SKU, please make sure to audit all of the product data for that SKU first. Zentail will send product data feeds for the MF version AND the FBA version of the SKU. Meaning, whatever data is in Zentail (title, images, tags, etc....) will overwrite the data on your Seller Central for that SKU.

If you decide to create the MF SKU directly on your Amazon Seller Central, please make sure to label the SKU exactly as it would have been created- that is, add a +MF+ to the end of the FBA SKU value. Zentail uses the SKU value to connect to Amazon (and each other integration), if the SKU is different in any way (including spaces, or capitalization), Zentail will not connect to that specific SKU.
